Prime Minister offers incense at historic memorial site for Tay Tien Regiment 52

The event was part of the activities to mark the 70th anniversary of Wounded and Fallen Soldiers Day (July 27) and the 50th anniversary of the founding of Vietnam-Laos diplomatic relations.

At the function, the Government leader offered incense and flowers to the fallen soldiers of the Tay Tien Regiment 52 and expressed his deep gratitude for their dedication to the country.

Writing in the visitor’s book, he said that the Tay Tien soldiers have gone down in the history of the Vietnamese people’s army as an example for younger generation to follow.

The Tay Tien Regiment 52 was set up on February 27, 1947. During the French resistance war (1945-1954), Tay Tien soldiers accomplished brilliant feats of arm, contributing to the victory over the French. They also fought throughout the northwest and upper Lao fronts, establishing themselves as an illustration of Vietnam-Laos friendship.

During his stay in Moc Chau, the PM visited the family of Nguyen Thanh Lam, a veteran living in Moc Chau Farm, who is disabled as a result of the toxic Agent Orange/Dioxin used on Vietnam during the war.

He also visited a processing and packaging chain at Moc Chau milk factory, of the Moc Chau Dairy Cattle Breeding Joint Stock Company, whose predecessor was the Military Farm established on April 8, 1958, by soldiers of Regiment 280 (Division 335) after the liberation of the northwest.

On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Wounded and Fallen Soldiers Day, a programme was held in Son La city yesterday evening to commemorate the revolutionary contributors from the northwest region.

The event was attended by Politburo member, Secretary of Party Central Committee (PCC) and Head of PCC Economics Commission Nguyen Van Binh, alongside 150 Vietnamese heroic mothers and family members of war martyrs in the region.

The event featured songs and dances praising the merit of the Vietnamese fallen soldiers as well as documentaries on the land and history of people in the northwest region.

Addressing the programme, Politburo member Nguyen Van Binh, who is also Head of National Steering Committee for Northwest Region, spoke highly of the contributions made to the motherland by ethnic groups in the region.

He asked for further efforts from ministries, sectors and local authorities to improve care for national contributors.

Also on July 16, Politburo member and Deputy PM Vuong Dinh Hue visited and presented gifts to 11 Vietnamese heroic mothers in Nghi Loc district, Nghe An province. The Government official earlier offered incense to war martyrs at Truong Bon historical site in My Son commune, Do Luong district, Nghe An province.
